PREAMBLE 100th anniversary of the birth of Kemal Ahmet Aru, architect and urban planner (1912-2005) In 36th General Conference of UNESCO held in between October 25, and November 10, 2011 in Paris, it has been unanimously resolved to celebrate 100th Birth Year of Our Dear Professor, founder of Urban Design and Urban and Regional Planning Discipline in Turkey, Architect and Urban Planner, Kemal Ahmet Aru with the participation of UNESCO and to commemorate him worldwide. http://www.unesco.org The Dean and the Board of Faculty of Architecture, Istanbul Technical University, where Prof. Kemal Ahmet Aru has served 42 years continuously, between the years 1940 and 1982, have decided to participate this commemoration and celebration making them to feel honored together... With respect and love Prof. Hande SUHER Engineer Architect ITU I am very sorry that I lost the founding members of ITU Faculty of Architecture Chair of Urbanism and I am feeling that I am alone. When I was a student ITU Faculty of Architecture Chair of Urbanism for Architectural Education Program was only consisted of three people: Head of the Chair Prof. Gustav. Oelsner was consulting at Ankara and he used to come two days in a week to give lectures in Urbanism.
